BEST AND WORST OF BOTH WORLDS IN SOCIAL MEDIA
In this day and age social media is Huge !!! Lets all admit it, we ALL have social media accounts /profiles . I don’t blame you! You need to keep up with the times because we live in a world where digital media is taking over . As we use these social networks it is also important to use your personal accounts in an appropriate way. We all like to update ,share ,like, and comment on networks and that is what social networking is all about, BUT be careful you can make the best and the worst out of your profile account ,especially when you going into professions such as Public Relations . what we don’t know is that you are able to be "Goggled" and once we Google you we can see what you all about and FIRST IMPRESSIONS COUNT, beware of all the pictures , journals , and information you post especially if you want to be employed .Many people don't understand the ramifications of posting questionable materials on the web for friends to see is in fact for EVERYONE to see . Having a thousand followers is one thing, but having a significant influence over them is another .Are you one of those people who are interesting and love engaging online? or maybe you just love collecting followers ? Well i have NEWS for you... YOU NEED TO BE WISE With social media you are able to communicate, your thoughts , perceptions over different topics and to a large number of audience Well, make it creditable!! what you say says a lot about you . As a PR people need to have a relevant perception about you and you need to be able to have a carm cool and collected two way communication with people u engage with . Be Careful of what you say online and what you say to others. Before u # Tag some Info .
3.SHOW OFF YOUR GOOD INTRESTS AT HEART
Social networks especially the ones we use the most like Twitter and Facebook are inherently casual> BUT as a PR we have to keep one general rule in mind we should keep our tweets and status updates free of grammar and spelling mistakes, excessive Emotions and gratuitous newspeak . Employees see your social media as a snap shot of how you relate to the public. Even when you type "LARK DIS " , we are not Robots, we do not type like that. It is not professional it makes you seem as if u have a low IQ or a low level of intelligence . It’s hard to imagine a person like that to send a professional manner, so PLEASE stay away from LOL, LIB, LOL , and write out the FULL word . It’s don't NOT DNT =)
The nice thing about social media is it only shows you what you want it to show you, So you can easily create a cultivated image of yourself. show people you up to date with current trends and that you up to date. Don’t forget that if you are a PR and you work for a Brand, you also represent your brand. Be smart and friendly, make sure that the things you do increase your Brand awareness, find prospects and generate sales on your social media platform. The best way to get Noticed is as if yo post links and blogs about your industry or even highlight the good work you have done.. Humanize your Brand, So people build a relationship with it , You can be more conversational with your customers as a PR and post things that fit what your Brand is all about. Share company traditions and stand out.. BE ON YOUR CUSTOMERS MIND!!!! Remind your fans about GREAT DEALS, EVENTS, NEWS and stay On top of their NEWSFEED.

wow! I love what I'm seeing. but I need to know as to how can something I post on social media for instance twitter or Facebook limits my chances of being employed. the things I post about on Facebook are nobody's business, how can they take them to use against me?

ReplyDeleteI love the fact that you highlighted the fact that if you in the Public relations world, one need to be very careful of what the post on social media because you will not be able to get a job in this field. what Public Relations Practitioners basically do is to build and maintain positive images either of the company they work for or themselves. no one will want to be represented by a person who is forever swearing on social media.

ReplyDeleteThe biggest mistake people make is not knowing where to draw the line in terms of what they share on their social media sites. People only think in the moment and don't realise what impact the things they post will have for them in the future.
ReplyDeleteIt really important to try and keep your digital media print clean. Especially since everything we say stays there forever. So it important to make sure that we don't do and say anything you will regret later
